Dr. Wallace Carr, a Professor in the School of Polymer, Textile and Fiber Engineering, worked with Monsanto Textiles Company for five years and was involved in processing synthetic fibers. Since 1978, Dr. Carr has been employed by Georgia Tech where his research has been primarily in the areas of thermal sciences in industrial fiber, carpet and textile processes, and textile digital printing.
He is a registered Professional Engineer in Georgia and Virginia. His professional activities include: American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Fellow, Chair of the Textile Engineering Division; Fiber Society, Member; Textile Institute, Fellow; The Society for Imaging Science and Technology, Member; Sigma Xi, Scientific Research Society, Member; and Tau Beta Pi Honorary Society, Member.
EDUCATION: RESEARCH INTERESTS: Digital printing of textiles (ink jet and electrophotography); Transport Phenomena: heat, mass and moisture transport in fibrous structures; Thermal sciences in industrial fiber and carpet/textile processes (heating, drying, curing); Electrotechnologies in industrial processes (radio frequency, microwave, ultrasonic and infrared energy); and Polymer processing, compounding, and characterization. |
